I teach and tutor playwrighting, and occasionally offer classes through schools (Freehold Theatre Lab, Lake Washington Girl’s School) or just on my own. One of my favorite classes is Crafting the 10 Minute Play, which I offer as both a four-week class and as an one day seminar version, providing much of the same information without written exercises. Here’s a pair of testimonials from my one-day class for the Island Players on Bainbridge Island.
“…a very pleasant and productive afternoon, full of cogent learning moments delivered in a genial and accessible style and efficient tempo. In four short hours, he gave us a practical overview of the techniques of writing short plays, incorporating successful contemporary examples and historical perspectives….the attendants were well satisfied.” -Steve Stolee, Director and Actor
“John Longenbaugh tailored his workshop to fit our exact needs and time schedule. He presented relevant material and distributed a nice packet of information, including further reading. John structured the workshop to introduce concepts and then show them with our local actors presenting short plays, all excellent examples of the Ten-Minute Play format. We had a large turnout of over 50 people, and I heard over and over again how enjoyable, educational, and fun the day was.” -Sara Scribner, Island Theatre Board Member
